How Website Tracking Works
ScreenTimerAI can track the websites you visit while browsing, providing detailed insights into your online activities.
Browser Support
Website tracking is supported in the following browsers:
- Chrome
- Safari
- Chromium-based browsers (Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi, etc.)
How Website Tracking Works
When you have a browser window active, ScreenTimerAI:
- Detects that you're using a supported browser
- Retrieves the URL of the active tab
- Records the website along with the time spent
- Categorizes the website based on its domain and content
Privacy Protection
Incognito/Private Mode
ScreenTimerAI automatically excludes tracking when you're browsing in:
- Incognito mode (Chrome/Chromium browsers)
- Private browsing mode (Safari)
Activities in private/incognito windows are not recorded or tracked, protecting your privacy during sensitive browsing sessions.
Permissions Required
To enable website tracking, you need to grant ScreenTimerAI:
- Accessibility permissions (macOS System Preferences → Privacy & Security → Accessibility)
These permissions allow ScreenTimerAI to read the active tab URL from your browser.
